Task 1: how does Emmet come across? How effective would this trailer be in promoting the film?
emmet comes across as a very chill and calm guy. he isn't anything special, he wants to fit into the crowd and be a ordinary person. He has no special qualities and is a people pleaser so does what he is told with no fuss. He is a bit clueless and does not seem like the type of person to be hero. the hero is normally different and he is not.
the trailer is effective in promoting the film because it shows he theme and lightness of the movie. it shows it is a bouncy and colourful film, with nothing remotely scary or dark in anyway. it shows a repetitive and kid-like song, witch represents the whole movie and shows what its like. the trailer shows the storyline and main characters in it and even what some are like.

ReplyDeleteYou have good understanding of how Emmet is constructed as 'ordinary' and anxious to fit in, to be told what to do. You could also draw attention to the ways in which he lacks the physique of an action hero (he struggles to do three star jumps) and how unassertive he is (telling people that he is not special).
For question 2, you recognise the bright fun of the film but could also refer to the target audience appeal (adults and children are targeted in slightly different ways) and draw attention to the action adventure themes.
